Confidence, according to prominent life coach Ogunlesi, is "the belief that you are capable of succeeding in whatever you want to do in life and become whoever you want to be." The author, who had her own awakening in her early twenties, doesn't promise a life without conflict, but she begins by asking readers to examine their authentic selves, pinpoint their strengths, and shut off the "mean girl" mind that sends them negative messages. She urges readers to ditch procrastination, face their fears, and quit trying to please people. The book is peppered with quizzes, CAKI (Confident and Killing It) mantras, and enough energy to power the country. Ogunlesi, who channels her inner Beyonc and Oprah, writes in an entertainingly sassy tone. Her goal is to empower women, and she provides concrete ways to achieve that by enthusiastically sharing her methods for growing her brand, building her business, and promoting her dreams. Don't hide your light, says the author, and help other women get their own light bulbs. Readers are sure to be inspired and energized by Ogunlesi's wisdom.

British confidence coach, motivational speaker, and Confident and Killing It podcast host Ogunlesi's first book is a useful resource for those who want to gain more confidence, specifically within their careers. Each chapter focuses on an area in one's life that one can have more confidence in such as: owning your strengths; fighting those negative thoughts ("the mean girl"); "perfectionism vs. procrastination," and "bouncing back from a setback." All the descriptions in the book contain interactive questions readers can respond to, such as listing strengths and developing positive self-talk. Ogunlesi gives examples of her confidence coach work with her clients in each chapter. This book is helpful for early career women or women in their 20s and 30s but is not limited to that age group only. The book contains solid examples to help readers become more confident. VERDICT A solid addition to most public libraries' collections.
